Hi Karen. I just happened to read about you and see you are doing some indepth work around the ideas on meditation and neurons. I have just argued in an essay about rational and non-rational mind (well, about art theory really…. and our daily consciousness and Zen no-mind) that the link or connection between spirit and matter is sealed, as the brain is prooven to change with the impact of meditation. I too think this will probably be one of many scientific studies to explain previously hidden mechanisms. Would you like to tell me your ideas around that?
Thanks a lot,
cheers, Tone Western
I would love to read your essay Tone Western. Is it available online somewhere or could you email it to me at karen.lawrence@yahoo.com? From a psychological perspective, the idea that the “link or connection between spirit and matter is sealed” doesn’t seem far off to me considering our brains have definite perceptual limitations and will sometimes go to extremes to protect and defend us against things it cannot understand or put into context. From a scientific point of view, a book I read recently called “The Way from Science to Soul” by Casey Blood explores the idea that we are nonphysical souls that have physical bodies, and postulates that birth itself initiates what Blood calls the soul’s “forgetting” of the plane from which it came. He contends that spiritual practices like meditation help the soul recognize and remember the spiritual plane of its origination.
i was wondering if you might check out my site I recently opened on the ning network? Its for artsy/creative people. Very new. Just over 100 members so far, but we want to grow!

Joined your network Kellie…great design and so many useful tools in one spot! Looks like it will grow into a wonderful meeting ground for creative souls. Once I get a chance to dig around in there I’ll give a little more feedback. Thanks!
