The biggest hassle of being an independent performing artist has to be keeping online calendars and profiles updated. There are a plethora of places to post, and you never know who's going to find one of your shows or updates on that website or social network you've been neglecting. Yet simply adding tour date information to just the top sites can require hours of tedious data entry. And the applications are all different, making the ability to navigate between them even more aggravating. Aaaargh!
Opportunity has been knocking on that technology door for some time and up until now, sites have offered the ability to sync limited information into the main social networking channels, but no one has tackled a comprehensive calendar update function.
Enter Artistdata .
With basic memberships free and upgrades for $10-25 dollars a month, this service is attempting to solve the musician’s perpetual online data entry headache.
There are a number of bells and whistles, but basic offerings are:
- Profile Sync. Update info on your accounts on MySpace, Facebook, Twitter, and more!
- Show Submission. Automatically have your show submitted to the top online concert databases.
- ArtistData Pages. Customize your ArtistData profile page, giving fans a branded place to discover you!
- Headlines Feed. Give your fans one feed to subscribe to where they can get information on all your updates!
I’ve been watching the site for a few months and reluctantly report they have been experiencing some technical issues. But I am definitely rooting for them to succeed!! Anything that makes the process of promoting independent LIVE music easier and more accessible is desperately needed, and this site offers the best hope yet. Check it out for yourself and let me know what you think.
