I believe the organizers of the Think Little workshop I attended on Saturday were a little surprised when more than 50 people turned out on a Saturday afternoon to talk about ideas. In a time where people seem so busy and distracted by life, getting that kind of attendance may just indicate something in the concept struck a chord.
While I was asked to speak about my experiences with creative partnerships in building a small business , working in a community non-profit organization and forming a musician’s guild, I really went there to listen. I wanted to know what people were thinking about how creative businesses in particular could be started small and linked together to create economic viability for everyone. I wanted to see what people were really passionate about.
What did I hear? Somehow this story I ran across about a composer that was inspired to write a song based on birds positioned on a wire seemed to say it all. Individually we are just birds on a wire. Together we are a song.
